The Integrated Deepwater System (IDS) is a program by the United States Coast Guard for new wide and intensive acquisitions of CG equipment for deepsea environments (predominantly vessels and aircrafts).
It wants to upgrade existing vehicles while transitioning to more modern and more capable platforms with improved systems for command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) and innovative logistics support.
The program is sheduled for a duration of 20 years. By then, $17 billion will have been spent.
The Integrated Coast Guard Systems (ICGS) is a joint venture between Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman.
The IDS oversees 18 districs nationwide.
Program executive officer is Rear Admiral Patrick M. Stillman, USCG.
