Amazing by matseb
Description: THE town of skyscrapers in Germany! Besides, I can't think of another place
in Europe with such a cumulation. They are very fancy, too! Most all are used by banks - built mostly with money from us citizens...
The Commerzbank tower is the tallest in Europe, anyway (259 m w/o antennas, consists of 56 storeys). Some can be visited for
skyline sightseeing. 368 banks are based in "FFM". Stock exchange ranks 4 globally.
Directions: located in the city center (one is located on the fair ground nearby) |

Beware of drug attics by matseb
Description: Avoid the area between RR station and Taunusanlage (especially Kaiserstr.
and Elbestr.) as those are the worst streets. Drug attics and all kinds of other criminals walk around!

Oktoberfest - the biggest party in the galaxy
by matseb
Description: ... Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit!!!
Party animals all over the world
come here in mid September 'til the first week of Oktober. Bavarians call it "Wies'n". Several large tens (each filled
with about 10,000 guests) host the guest. All have a small band which play regional and international party music. It's really
crowded at the weekends so you want to take a seat in the early afternoon... It's not a tourist thing; lots of Germans and
locals come here, too.
Come between September 18th and. Oktober 3rd, 2004!!!

Totally unique by matseb
Description: You're open minded and like to relax? You HAVE TO go there on a sunny day
in the Summer. It's a huge park (just meadows and trees and some canals) where people go to get tanned, to relax, to play
sports and to swim. At the Eisbach, a small creek nearby the "Haus der Kunst", it's common to lay naked.

MVG and DB\S-Bahn by matseb
'Mode': AROUND
Category: Subway/Metro
Getting TO/AROUND: This city provides one of the most dense public transportation systems
in Germany. There are rural trains, subways, streetcars and buses. The rural trains are called "S-Bahn" and are operated by
the "S-Bahn GmbH", an affiliate of "Deutsche Bahn" corporation, the national railroad company. The subway is operated by the
City administration. The others by "Stadtwerke München = SWM". Besides the S-Bahn, all are merged to "Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft
= MVG". All components work together in a tariff system called "Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund = MVV". So your ticket
is valid on every kind of public transport. Riding without a ticket will be fined with 40 EUR. |
